Mark Nolan Confesor is the Principal Investigator of the Soft Matter and Biological Physics Laboratory and the Program Leader of the Complex Systems Group at PRISM, MSU–IIT.
Professor Mark Nolan Confesor is one of the 2022 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos Awardees for Teachers. The prestigious career-service award recognizes Filipino exemplars in the academe, the military, and the police force. It honors the excellence and sacrifices of Filipino teachers, soldiers, and police officers who have gone over and beyond the call of duty to serve their profession and their community. The Award will be officially conferred on 05 September 2022 as part of Metrobank’s anniversary celebrations.
Dr. Confesor is a professor and researcher at the Premier Research Institute of Science and Mathematics (PRISM) at the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology. He initiated the creation of the Soft Matter and Biological Physics Laboratory (SMBPL) in 2013, which has received research grants from government agencies such as the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council of Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), and MSU–IIT.
He served as the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics of MSU–IIT from 2016 to 2019. He has served as the President of the Samahang Pisika ng Visayas at Mindanao (SPVM) and is currently a National Councilor of the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas.
